About ActionAid Australia

ActionAid Australia is an anti-poverty agency that works towards eradicating poverty and injustice.

ActionAid’s mission is to tackle the root causes of poverty to create long term change. At the heart of our work is the belief that every person has a right to food, shelter, work, education, health care and democratic governance. ActionAid strives to help the world’s most vulnerable – particularly women and children - access these rights.

ActionAid works with the poor to address issues such as poverty, hunger and women’s rights. By giving them a voice, we help the disadvantaged strengthen their own efforts to both end poverty and fulfil and protect their rights.

At ActionAid, we focus on securing justice, not just a charity donation. Our child sponsorship program allows us to work with children and their communities to address poverty challenges at the local level. Through our campaigns and rights based initiatives we highlight development issues and challenges on the national and international stage to affect real and sustainable change.

Our vision is a world without poverty and injustice in which every person enjoys the right to a life with dignity.

Child Sponsorship

ActionAid's child sponsorship program is different because it takes a holistic approach. When you sponsor a child with ActionAid, the sponsorship funds not only help the child, but their family and the wider community.

Rather than singling out one child, the sponsorship money goes towards long lasting change. Child sponsorship is about ensuring that children have access to basic rights including food, shelter and education. By talking and working with children, parents and elders, ActionAid can address the unique issues facing different communities.

From just $1.35 a day, you can help provide children with basic rights and give them a voice and a future.
