Americas

ActionAid works in five countries in the Americas, and funds work in a further five through our Spanish sister organisation Ayuda en Accion.

In Brazil, Guatemala, Haiti and Dominican Republic we work with local and national partners and with poor farmers on land reform and trade justice, HIV/AIDS prevention and care, education rights and building social movements.

We also fund work in Bolivia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Peru through Ayuda en Accion.

ActionAid USA has been active since 2000.

Regional and international work

We play a key role in strengthening national education networks in twelve Latin American countries, which form the regional Campaign for the Right to Education. We also take part in negotiations on a Free Trade Area of the Americas and support our partners to participate in the Caribbean and Brazil social forums, and run a number of workshops.
