Emergencies and conflict
Each year conflict and natural disaster affects over 300 million people. Those most vulnerable and least powerful suffer the most.
Almost without exception, the world's worst human rights abuses and humanitarian crises take place during conflict. People resort to violence when their rights are violated, when they have to compete for scarce resources to survive, or when fighting is the only way to make a living.
ActionAid works in emergency situations providing immediate relief and setting up long term projects that help communities rebuild their lives and reduce their vulnerability to future disasters and conflict. We take sides with poor and vulnerable communities. We hold those who are in power to account.

Pakistan floods: ActionAid appeal
ActionAid is providing emergency relief to flood affected people across Pakistan following the country's worst floods in living memory.
Over 17 million people have been affected by the floods, of which up to 8 million are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. The death toll is close to 1,600, but will rise rapidly unless more aid reaches victims soon.
