1GOAL: Education for All

no21

Around the world, 75 million children - half of them in Africa - are denied the opportunity to go to school. These children could be our next generation's leaders - but first they need an education.

1GOAL: Education for All is the official campaign of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which will be taking place in Africa for the very first time.

1GOAL has one purpose: to ensure that people of all ages around the world get access to quality education, classrooms, teachers and the future that education provides.

Since 2000, we've seen 40 million more children enter school and this is a great start. But we must keep working to make sure the other 75 million, especially girls, still out of school have the opportunity to build a better future for themselves, their families, communities and countries.

FIFA has officially partnered with 1GOAL, which is led by the Global Campaign for Education and supported by a coalition of key charities including ActionAid International, teaching unions, faith groups, private sector leaders and committed governments.

With support from world famous players like Thierry Henry, Rio Ferdinand and David James, 1GOAL is encouraging millions of people to sign up and show their support before and during the 2010 World Cup.

1GOAL does not ask for your money. Instead, we ask you to sign your name for those who cannot, to create a united global voice and encourage world leaders to place education at the top of their agenda.

We are asking football fans and everyone who believes that education beats poverty to sign up at www.join1goal.org
