TOTO stands for "The Overseas Training Operation", but may also have something to do with a hit song by a certain 80's band.

ActionAid Australia launched Project TOTO in June, when we announced Australian political blogger Stilgherrian, would be sent to Tanzania to teach locals to blog.

Stilgherrian finished his trip in early July - with the Tanzanian blogs now live (http://blogs.actionaid.org.au/tanzania)! You can read more about Stilgherrian's experience on his blog and on ActionAid Australia CEO Archie Law's blog.

ActionAid's vision is to create multiple blog outposts around the world to give povery a voice on the global stage.

We're now searching for the next Australian to send to one of our program countries. Nominations closed on 30 September, so we're busy trawling through over 350 comments about our 52 nominees to select a shortlist. Updates will be posted on this blog.

ActionAid Australia will be judging nominations based on the following criteria:

- nominees must be open minded and up for adventure

- nominees must be passionate about ending poerty and injustice

- nominees must be able to communicate well and work with people from different cultures

- nominees must be available for a 2-week in-country stay (actual length of time will be between 1-2 weeks).
